As 2025 draws to a close, one truth stands out: digital is no longer a secondary channel for insurers. It has become the primary way customers interact with, evaluate, and judge the quality of a brand and its services.
This shift isn’t driven by lack of demand – quite the opposite. Customers now expect fast, seamless, and intuitive digital journeys. Yet despite progress, the insurance industry still trails others in overall customer satisfaction. Omnichannel service remains incomplete, and the gap between customer expectations and available digital solutions continues to hinder growth. A key reason? Many insurers are still relying on outdated portals built a decade ago.
Web apps once marked a major leap forward in insurance digitalization. They allowed customers to look up policies, submit claims, and access self-service options – transformative features at the time. But today, their limitations are hard to ignore. Templates are rigid and difficult to adapt. Updates depend on slow, resource-heavy release cycles. And many web apps remain tethered to legacy on-premise infrastructure.
Even early cloud-based solutions inherited these constraints. The industry has since embraced cloud-native ecosystems such as the Guidewire Cloud Platform (GCP), which offer scalability and agility. But to truly unlock the power of the cloud, insurers need a digital layer that’s just as flexible and adaptive.
That’s where the Jutro Digital Platform (JDP) comes in – delivering modular design, continuous updates, and seamless integration across the insurance ecosystem.
Helping P&C insurers around the world implement Guidewire solutions since 2011.
Jutro began as a toolkit to accelerate portal development and standardise user experience across Guidewire solutions. Over time, it became synonymous with Guidewire’s digital portals. Today, it has evolved into the JDP: a comprehensive digital experience platform and the foundation of Guidewire’s cloud-native ecosystem.
JDP is no longer just a design platform or UI toolkit. It offers a rich library of ready-to-use components and patterns, modular micro-frontends for tailored customer experiences, and an API-first integration model that connects effortlessly with Guidewire core systems and external partners. Crucially, its decoupled release cycles empower digital teams to innovate continuously – without waiting for major upgrades.
And while some parts of JDP, like the Jutro Design System, can technically be used independently, its true value lies in its seamless integration with Guidewire Cloud. Using it as a standalone solution offers limited benefits.
Despite digital ambitions, most insurers still struggle to deliver end-to-end online journeys. Customers often begin online – but rarely finish there. Fragmented systems and legacy processes create friction. JDP helps bridge this gap.
UX teams gain the freedom to design experiences that meet modern expectations. Partners can be integrated quickly via APIs. And incremental improvements can be released continuously, not annually. This agility is essential in a world where digital engagement evolves faster than ever.
One of JDP’s key enablers is the Digital SDK (Software Development Kit) – a generated set of TypeScript functions and type definitions that simplify integration with Guidewire’s InsuranceSuite Cloud APIs. It can be used within Jutro apps or, with some limitation, in custom front-end portals, accelerating development and ensuring consistency.
At its core, JDP combines the Jutro Design System with a well-defined application structure built on InsuranceSuite Cloud APIs and the Digital SDK. This combination ensures faster, deeper, and more consistent integration with Guidewire’s ecosystem. It provides insurers with a scalable foundation to build and evolve digital journeys while staying aligned with future Guidewire developments.
JDP also supports continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), allowing insurers to release updates incrementally, experiment safely, and improve customer journeys without waiting for large-scale transformations.
At Sollers Consulting, we’ve seen first hand how JDP accelerates delivery and enhances flexibility. It’s not just a new tool – it’s the next logical step in helping insurers deliver better digital experiences, faster.
We help insurance companies leverage cloud to achieve their business goals.
Of course, adopting JDP comes with its own set of challenges. For example, some screens generated from the Product Model are limited to basic data types, requiring custom implementation for more complex cases. Similarly, migrating existing lines of business to APD (Advanced Product Designer) – a necessary step to fully leverage JDP’s capabilities – requires careful planning and configuration. While migration from ClaimCenter does not involve APD, it remains part of a broader InsuranceSuite migration that must also be thoughtfully executed.
Despite these hurdles, success stories often emerge within weeks or a few months, depending on the portal type, customization level, and APD complexity. The speed to market is one of JDP’s most compelling advantages, thanks to ready-to-use templates and the Digital SDK.
Design flexibility is another standout feature. The Jutro Design System allows UI creation in Figma, which can be exported as themes through a semi-automated process. And its micro-frontend architecture enables portals to be deployed as standalone or embedded applications – giving insurers the freedom to tailor experiences to their needs.
The insurance industry is at a pivotal moment. Customer expectations are higher than ever, and digital maturity is now a key differentiator. Growth will come not from products alone, but from how well insurers deliver digital experiences.
Web apps helped the industry take its first digital steps. The Jutro Digital Platform is the next leap forward – empowering insurers to move from static, legacy portals to dynamic, cloud-native platforms that evolve continuously with the customer.
At Sollers Consulting, we’re not just watching this transformation unfold. We’re actively helping insurers embrace innovations like JDP, break down silos, and deliver value faster than ever. Because in the future of insurance, digital isn’t an add-on – it’s the experience itself.
The insurance industry is moving beyond outdated web portals toward dynamic, cloud-native ecosystems.
The Jutro Digital Platform (JDP) represents this next evolution—empowering insurers to deliver faster, more seamless digital experiences, integrate effortlessly with Guidewire Cloud, and continuously adapt to customer needs. At Sollers Consulting, we help insurers make this shift—from legacy systems to modern digital platforms that turn transformation into ongoing innovation.
